KHRP Turkey and Iraq Desk Officer Mustafa Gündoğdu was this week quoted on the website of the international news channel France24, in an article about efforts to court Kurdish voters in the run-up to local elections in Turkey. Mustafa speaks about the decision of Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to use Kurdish in his campaigning, while Kurdish politicians are banned from speaking in their own language, and recent calls from the opposition Republican People’s Party for the Kurdish new year to be declared a public holiday. The piece, ‘”Saturday Mothers” Return, Seeking Answers’, is available here. Please note that the article is divided into two parts – the section featuring Mustafa's comments can be accessed directly here.
