KHRP is excited to announce that it has won a permanent place in the Global Giving Network.  Thanks to your generous support, we have successfully raised £1,798 from 66 unique donors.

But it is still not too late too pledge your support to help KHRP secure first or second place on the Project Challenge Leader Board.  Your donation however large or small could cast the deciding vote on whether we can clinch an extra £500 to £1,000 towards our work (since the two projects that raise the most money through the Challenge will receive an extra donation from GlobalGiving).

KHRP Launches GlobalGiving Project Challenge to Fundraise for Women’s Access to Justice

KHRP has launched a fundraising initiative in support of its Women’s Access to Justice Project. The project has been posted on GlobalGiving.co.uk’s website as part of the GlobalGiving November 2009 Project Challenge.

KHRP’s project seeks to raise awareness on women’s rights in Turkey where breaches to women’s rights are common and where limited access to justice is particularly acute in the Kurdish regions.

KHRP Publishes Fact-Finding Mission Report on Human Rights in the Kurdish Regions of Turkey

KHRP is pleased to announce the publication of its latest fact-finding mission report, Human Rights in the Kurdish Region of Turkey: Three Pressing Concerns.

This report is based on the findings of a mission dispatched to Turkey by KHRP in May 2009 following reports of widespread detentions and investigations of pro-Kurdish politicians and activists in the aftermath of the March 2009 local elections. The mission travelled to the provinces of Şırnak, Siirt, Mardin, Batman and Diyarbakır, collecting information regarding impunity of state officials, women’s access to justice and the climate for human rights defenders.

A Special Month for a Special Cause: KHRP launches its first ever giving month

Together we can make a real difference to the lives of millions of Kurds, who because of their ethnic origin are still denied access to their basic human rights.  As a result, they suffer from economic and social deprivation, illiteracy and poverty.

KHRP has launched its first ever Giving Month, which will run until 24 December 2008. When so many of us are feeling the pinch of the current economic climate, we wanted to highlight some of the more economical, tax-effective and even cost free ways to support our cause.  That said we know that it is difficult to know where to start, especially when you want to do something to help but can’t seem to find the time. So we’ve set aside a month during which you can give at least one of five easy ways to support KHRP a go.

Tickets on Sale for 20 November 2008 Launch of Kurds: Through the Photographer’s Lens

Lord Eric Avebury invites you to the launch of Kurds: Through the Photographer’s Lens, which will be taking place at London’s stylish SW1 Gallery at 7.30 pm on 20 November 2008. Celebrating 15 years of the Kurdish Human Rights Project, the night will raise funds and awareness for the organisation’s activities. There will be an exhibition of images from the book and comedian Mark Thomas will be auctioning these, along with copies of the publication itself signed by contributors including Harold Pinter.

This unique collaboration celebrates the life and times of the Kurdish people over the past 15 years as seen through the eyes of some of the most prominent photographers and photo journalists who have worked across the Kurdish regions, including Susan Meiselas, Jan Grarup, Ed Kashi, and Patrick Robert.

Tickets for the event are £75 per person, including food, drinks and a complimentary copy of the book, and can be purchased from the KHRP website here.
